Therapeutic Heart Pad is a device that can offer patients enhanced security, comfort and mobility after open-heart surgery. The invention can comprise a two-part padded vest that has separate front and back sections. The device holds a protective pad against the chest of an individual and can be used after an individual had open-heart surgery or a similar procedure. Additionally, the device is worn against the chest, encompassing an area from the clavicles to the bottom of the rib cage. The back section of the device extends from the top of the shoulders to the bottom of the rib cage. When worn, this construction provides full, structural support to the back. While both the front and back sections help with support, the front section's padding minimizes discomfort for the user. Both sections can connect together by straps with hook-and-loop fasteners on each side, or another suitable means. In use, individuals secure the two sections on the front and back of their midsection by hook and loop fasteners. The hook and loop fasteners hold a plurality of straps over the shoulders and around the midsection of the individual. In order to create a snug, tight fit, the straps may be shortened. This can also apply the required amount of pressure to the chest wound. If the patient needs to cough or sneeze, he or she may cross his or her arms across the front surface of the pad and apply additional pressure. This action will add more support to withstand the pressure created by coughing or sneezing.
